To thrive in this environment, it is important to have open minds, respect for one another, readiness to cooperate and compromise with others, and a sense of integrity and responsibility.
The residential halls of UWC colleges are the nurseries of deep, enduring friendships - friendship without borders, as it were. This is also where students will have the late-night chats, the interactions, revelations and connections that will stay with them and be a source of inspiration for life.

To foster personal growth and international understanding, the college will provide many different spaces and channels for communication among the community. There will also be a support network for students, comprising House Parents, student advisors, counselors, and host families.
It may not be easy for students to live in a community made up of so many different cultures and personalities, especially if this is their first time away from home. On the other hand, this small and multicultural community is also a nurturing and stimulating environment for young people, and the relationships and understanding formed in this environment have an enduring impact on their lives.

Residential Programme
The UWC Changshu China experience is founded on shared life experiences. At the school, cooperative living promotes both intercultural understanding and development of genuine concern for others.
The boarding life at UWC schools and colleges is sometimes a challenging, but ultimately and invariably a rewarding, experience for students.
