Enrollment in 2014

Students can only apply to other UWC schools and colleges in other countries (i.e. not UWC Changshu China) for 2014 enrollment.

To apply for the two-year IB Diploma Programme at a UWC:

Students must have completed at least 10 to 11 years of formal education before applying and must be 16 to 19 years old by the start of the 2014 academic year. For most students, this means they should be in Senior High School Year 2 or 3 (高二或高三) or equivalent at the time of application.

To apply for the one-year pre-IB course at a UWC:

Students can be a year younger than the above.

Exception: For Li Po Chun UWC of Hong Kong, some of the students must already hold a secondary school diploma and have been accepted into a Chinese university before enrolling.

Eligibility Criteria

For enrollment in a UWC in 2014, to be eligible to apply through the UWC National Committee of China, applicants should be citizens or residents of mainland China. Successful candidates must be ready to represent mainland China and to accept the responsibilities that this will involve.

Chinese citizens who are studying abroad should apply to UWC schools and colleges through the UWC National Committee of China. If you are unable to return to China for selection activities and interviews, you may choose to join the selection activities organized in your country of study (in this case, please contact the UWC national committee in your country of study to ascertain if they will accept your application). Please note that Chinese citizens may not apply directly to UWC schools and colleges without participating in the national committee selection process.

Students are expected to be strong candidates for subsequent university entry and must have a good working knowledge of English.

How to apply

The application form will be made available mid-January 2014 and the deadline for submitting the application is the end of January 2014.

Shortlisted applicants will be notified in February 2014 and will participate in a national UWC selection day (including written tests and interview) in early March 2014.

Please note: TOEFL or IELTS test results are not required for the application. However, these tests may be required for visa application purposes if you are accepted to a UWC college. Please check with the relevant embassy or consulate for the most current information.
